1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Spread 4 cups fresh blackberries in a greased 8-inch square baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 tbsp lemon juice.
2. In a bowl, stir together 1 large egg, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup all-purpose flour until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle evenly over the fruit. Drizzle 6 tbsp butter (melted) over the top.
3. Bake 35 minutes until the topping is lightly browned. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Serve with whipped cream if desired.
